October is Breast Cancer awareness month, and everyone is thinking pink!

Beast cancer is the most common cancer in woman in the UK. Some quick facts about breast cancer: a lump is often the first symptom, breast cancer can affect men as well as woman, treatments for breast cancer my include a combination of surgery, radio therapy, chemotherapy and drugs to block hormones.

I attended the lovely American Girl in Chelsea‘s Pink Diamonds and Pink Champagne event to support breast cancer  at Georg Jensen on New Bond Street last week after work at Fifi Wilson, and was so proud to be part of the fight against breast cancer!

Not only did a portion of the tickets as well as all jewellery sales that evening go towards the break through of breast cancer, but it was a great evening and a super fun event to be a part of!

I was a little nervous at first about attending the event alone, and not knowing any one to chat with, but everyone was pleasantly friendly and welcoming! I was presented with a delish glass of pink champagne upon arriving and excitedly started to make my way through the crowd!

Super cute pink cupcakes from sponge and cream turned into my sweetest dream that evening! The event was very well-organized and designed to keep every one there more than entertained and very happy!

The amazing Chelsea Day Spa were represented by two lovely girls, that offered free pink manicures and QMS cosmetics pampered us ladies with divine hand treatments!

On top of that, the gorgeous jewellery sparkling from every angle definitely caught my attention!

Thanks to American Girl in Chelsea’s lifesaving blog about getting around in London, I have developed an undying love for the city, and almost feel at home in it now! Her breast cancer awareness event really opened my eyes, and gave me the opportunity to at least contribute to the breakthrough a little bit! It is such an important cause, everyone should be supporting!

Thank you AG and Georg Jensen for a beautiful evening and for raising awareness and helping to fight breast cancer!

How are you helping the breakthrough of breast cancer this month? Us ladies at Fifi Wilson, have been doing everything from the Moonwalk to Macmillan Cancer Support bike tours! We would love to hear some stories! Comment the post, Facebook or Tweet us!

We look forward to hearing about how you contributed to the breakthrough of breast cancer this October!

How To: Spend a Morning in Chelsea

It seems like most London Ladies are always on the run and busily rushing from one appointment to the other. I don’t even want to go into the symptoms stress can cause and the effect it has on our bodies and minds. We’ve all been there, it’s hard to avoid, I know.

I have been literally jogging from one appointment to the next for weeks, trying to squeeze in coffee with a girlfriend and seeing it as a duty rather than a pleasure! Not to mention personal troubles and heart-ache…It’s hard enough to stay positive and feel balanced and good, it’s even harder to LOOK your best every day and every where you go. I feel like a volume-less hair day or blotchy skin, swollen-eyed day will automatically turn, what could have been a perfectly fine day, into a nightmare of moody, irrational stress.

Why not treat yourself to a much needed relaxing morning in Chelsea this week?

While biking up Fulham Road on the weekend, I was so into the newest Gaga song I was belting out while biking, I forgot to turn left towards South Ken, and I couldn’t help but stop at a spa that I have never noticed before!

It was so worth it! The Hand and Foot Spa on Fulham Road opened just a couple weeks ago, and luckily they were free for a spontaneous walk-in appointment! (Although they did mention that booking is always the better and safer option!)

Cool, minimal and modern, the Spa is located in the basement area. Thanks to the cafe bar, I was sitting on a comfortable sofa flipping through this months Vogue and sipping a cappuccino and a glass of still, ice cold water five minutes later.

The Spa uses Essie and OPI nail colors, and the manicure was one of the best I have ever had. Relaxing and fun but very professional and comfortable! Sanae, my nail technician was an absolute dream!

Being used to manis and pedis on every street corner in NYC, I have missed having perfectly polished and shaped nails and being pampered like the girl I am ever so often!

Unlike most joints in the States though, The Hand and Food Spa care about hygiene just as much as the end result. They follow strict standards of hygiene, all of their equipment is either single-use disposable or sterilized and sealed in medical-grade bags, that are opened seconds before use. (Thank gosh, cause I’ve been freaking out a little about getting a pedi ever since Kate Moss caught that gross foot fungus at a spa in NY)

The spa menu is never ending, and beside offering numerous treatments for mani and pedis, there is a foot specialist, and a men-only area! (It’s cute, they even get their own personal entrance, so contact with women will never occur! ) For some extra treatments, you can get your eye brows and lashes tinted, all while nibbling at some snacks from the bar!

To go with my french manicured fingernails topped with a light, delicate coat of sliver glitter (yes, I went for glitter), I got myself a ThisWorks foot cream that apparently Madonna uses and swears by! How divine!

Once pampered and dolled up, it is time to hit the shops! Fifi Wilson, just minutes walk away in Chelsea Green, will offer you the perfect outfit to go with your new nail color! Feel fresh and daring and spoil yourself rotten from top to bottom, enjoy defining and redefining your own personal style!

How about a spa manicure and pedicure this month that will  make a donation to fight breast cancer? Choose from a variety of pink polishes (all of which are gorgeous!) and 5% of your treatment will be donated to charity!

Then find the perfect pink Milly dress, Vivetta leopard collared or white bow dress or choose the most amazing Vivetta pink with leopard print collar and buttons coat that will boost your ego and go with your pink nail shade! Feel and look gorgeous!

Go for a timeless midnight Milly dress (my personal favorite) or a black casual knit for a more understated look! So good that pink goes with everything, right? :)

What ever you decided to do, don’t rush it, relax and enjoy shopping and spa-ing! Give yourself a time-out and forget all of your troubles and worries for just a moment. It will work wonders! For me it most certainly did!

Sometimes we forget that what we girls need, is some girl time.
