Saying you don’t look good in a hat is like saying you don’t look good in shoes!

Oh yes mustard! That’ll do… Mustard? Don’t let’s be silly. Now lemon, that’s different…

- The Mad Hatter from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland

Fifi Wilson‘s new hatter LouLou Bontemps, is everything but mad, and my new idol! Her gorgeous hat designs can be admired at the Chelsea store, and will satisfy every ladies tastes!

From wonderfully fresh and summer-y light straw hats to classic man-ish check hats to flirtatious dark grey or black wool bowlers decorated with mink, ostrich feathers and wonderfully vintage-feeling brooches, Loulou’s collection is sumptuously unique and lavish! All hand crafted and made, her artistic hats are a must for every outfit and occasion, all year round!!

As Loulou so wisely quotes Coco Chanel “In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different”

My collections are chic, sexy & timeless. Sharing my love for leather, antique fabrics & jewellery – I blend the contemporary & vintage look to create unique style statements. Women regard accessories as essential. Accessories are very important in creating & completing your own personal style. Each of my pieces are individual to their owner; creating her own style statement.

Whether you are attending a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, going out with the girls, hitting the town, or simply looking splendid, LouLou Bontemps creates hats for every imaginable occasion!

My personal favorite is a classic masculine check hat with a wonderful feather band that adds feminine style and beauty! I can totally see myself wearing it while stylishly picking up a coffee to-go and meeting some fabulous people for lunch (… dreaming up scenes featuring me and the hat!)

We all saw at the Royal Wedding earlier this year, how essential the right head-piece is. Whether it is the Queen getting it so perfectly right, or Eugenie going in a slightly more artistic direction. Audrey Hepburn’s scene at the horse races in My Fair Lady, would have been nothing without the glamorous hat collection, and we all adore the Parisian casual chic hats Alexa Chung seems to be able to throw on and look fab in. It mixes up your outfit and style and allows you to play and experiment with new looks. Fashion is a kind of communication. It’s a language without words. A great hat speaks for itself.

I for one, look up to woman in hats. Woman who are insecure or unsure about who they are, will never wear a hat. Strong and confident personalities pull off hats, and it is something that I admire.

Be bold and brave and daring, be a woman!

“Women are vain.  They think they look better in hats–if they have any sense.”  (94-year-old Louisa Hagood).

London Fashion Week Exhibitions

On the spring, with notepad, pen and iPhone ready, I spent most of my Sunday checking out the fabulous collections for Spring/Summer 2012.

In my vintage brown suede high heeled boots and with my Fashion Week Exhibition pass wrapped around my neck, I walked up and into the bottom level of Somerset House around noon on Sunday.

Even though I always dream of seeing some amazing celeb at an event, I never do. Probably ’cause I don’t pay enough attention and usually wander around, too tightly wound in my own thoughts, that even recognizing my own sister somewhere would be dificult. Still, I was hoping to see some fashion creators and victims and maybe the occasional famous face. While I did pass extravagantly dressed girls with matching face paint and outfit, I did not see anyone worth mentioning by name. Totally okay though, since the fashion was more than exceptional and so super exciting!

Being a Doll my love for shoes is unconditional, and could possibly even be called obsessive at times. I passed the most unique cassette heels ever by Cleo B’s “I Like That” collection.

She claims to have gotten her inspiration from a magazine tear of a pink cassette tape set against a bright yellow background. “It reminded me of a decade that cradled the birth of pop culture; it reminded me of the 80s”. – Cleo B

The Cleo B brand has found a very interesting balance of creativity and elegance. The shoes are extremely unique and very funky yet down to earth and conservatively lady-like at the same time. I love these heels, and can see myself wearing any of the colors combined with a sophisticated business look to add a little fun and youth to the outfit, or with leather leggings or skinny jeans for a more casually chic look.

Straight on to the next pair of gorgeous shoes, these casual summer heels are solving my personal Da Vinci code. I have been searching the stores all summer to find these exact shoes, and am thrilled to know where to find them for next season! Seriously cool with skinny jeans and romantic and feminine with a summer sun dress!

The exhibition was so much fun to admire and i found some exciting fashion pieces of art to gaze at in awe! It seemed like everywhere I turned, I either found my self in front of a awe-striking design, or staring at a fashionable wonder-woman with huge hair decoration and chunky heels!

Tatty Divine says ‘Hola’ to a real juicy jewellery collection! Their Spring/Summer 2012 collection is inspired by Frida Kahlo’s beautiful face and Mexican embroidery. My personal favorites were the Melon Large cantaloupe necklace, that comes with matching earrings, and even a tiny melon hat! (so cute) And the Sugar Skull Link Necklace. Skulls and skeletons nod to the Day of the Dead, but look closely and you’ll find them decorated with Tatty Devine symbols!

This is a really fun summer jewellery collection, I know I’ll be wearing next season! :)

Amongst bacon sandwiches and a tiny glass of champagne, I found my self scribbling down everything I could lay my eyes on! Whether the gorgeously bohemian Winter Kate collection by Nicole Richie, or amazing rubber dresses and coats for rainy spring days in London, I could not stop bouncing up and down in excitement!

Being the biggest fan and lover of Dachshund sausage dogs E-V-E-R, I could not resist taking a picture of this adorable “I love hot Dog” poster, out on the terrace of the Somerset House! The design comes as a super cute sweater and a Tee, and makes me so very happy!

At the end of a long day of London Fashion Week exhibitions, I found my self so inspired by London’s young talent! What an honor it is to be able to live and love and laugh in such an amazing city?

If I had the talent, I would sit down right now and create my own fabulous Fashion line, or paint a portrait or maybe I’ll just bake some cupcakes and decorate them with sugary butterflies… Either way, express yourself through art! Live, love, learn!

This is a Man’s World

Even buying this months edition of Vogue and a Snickers chocolate bar at my local corner store seems to be a disappointment these days. The guy behind the counter is giving me a hard time, not wanting to take my £20 note ‘because he will not have enough change for the rest of the day’. Fail.

It just seems to be one of those days. Feeling everything but flattered as a plumber cat calls and whistles as I walk by, make-up less and in my sweats. Gross.

A spa vacation is currently high on my ‘need now’ list, and my ‘must do’ list seems to be never ending.

I seem to be working through my to dos these days, living for that hour I spend in the bath tub in the evenings. Lighting several gorgeously scented massage oil candles from Fifi Wilson, and turning up jazz tunes and turning off my brain is heavenly bliss.

All Fifi Wilson candles are organic and made from massage oil wax, simply dip your fingers into the melted wax and use as an oil that leaves you smelling and feeling like a pampered princess!

The candles smell divine and come in three different sizes. The smallest starting at only £5.95 and being an ideal gift when meeting your BFF over coffee next! The largest, a must for a fabulous new home in London! I’m sure she’ll appreciate the thought and enjoy every second of it!

Named  as Chillin’ in ChelseaFrisky in Fulham, Naughty in Knightsbridge, Horny in Hyde Park, Sexy in Soho and Lovin’ in London Town- they offer cute,  funny and inspiring labels for every type of London Girl!

Come into your closest Fifi Wilson store to binge shop these delish candles! (I am of course thinking of every imaginable girlfriends birthday coming up!)

At the end of a long, exhausting day, This is a Man’s World. But it would be nothing with out a woman or a girl.

Fall into Glitz and Glitter

My king sized walk-in wardrobe is bursting and full of every item imaginable, still I have nothing to wear. It’s a Saturday morning and I’ve planned to spend a relaxing day, picking up a Love Bakery cupcake perhaps, and a coffee at the cafe at Bluebird with a girlfriend followed by a walk through the park. It should really be an easy call. Something along the lines of ‘cotton long sleeve paired with some skinny jeans’, so far 3 pairs of heels, ankle boots, leather pants, a pencil skirt, a cocktail dress and several silky blouses have migrated from my closet to my bed and the floor around it.

Sounds familiar?

What I am really looking for, is something casually chic to throw over and look dressed for fall but not OVER dressed. Something I can change from a day time sweater into a fabulous outfit in case coffee turns into martinis in the evening, as it so often does…

Ultimately, I am looking for the darling glittery metallic-knit sweaters in retro-trend fall colours from the Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter collection. It adds sparkle and pizzazz to any woman’s personal fall buffet, and is easily combinable with a leather bottom (HOT this fall), a pencil skirt for busy woman or simply a pair of jeans for the perfect transitional look.

After having stumbled across these precious glittering obsessions at Fifi Wilson in Chelsea last week, I can not seem to compose an outfit with out them that is to my satisfaction. I love pieces that are easy to wear and provide me with the attitude I may lack on a grey and gloomy fall day in London!

Come by your Fifi Wilson store to check out glitzy cardigans, knits and sweaters you’ll absolutely adore!

Definitely on my want and need and must-have list this fall!
