Best of British

In celebration of the impending Royal Wedding, the girls at Fifi thought it would be a great idea to celebrate “The Best of British”.

This small island with a population just short of 62 million has delivered some of the most iconic brands in history. The Mini, The Beatles, HP and Cadburys, amongst others, have been punching above their weight globally for generations. From Friday onwards, Brand Catherine Middleton will be launched amidst a media frenzy and her fashion choices will be scrutinised the world over – she will have the power to turn an unknown designer into an overnight superstar.

Two of our favourite British designers this season are Bella Freud and YMC – we are really excited by their unique take on British style and we are sure that you will be too.

Finally, all of us at Fifi will be hanging out the bunting and waving the flags for Fifi customer Catherine Middleton. We have no doubt that it will be a truly magnificent day and we along with the rest of the world can’t wait to see which British designer has been chosen for that dress!

 

Oh Brother…

Is it just us or has Celeb BB become the highlight of your January? If it’s not the tree of temptation, it’s Stephanie’s bitchy comments that have us hooked. Just like the Celeb house we have a huge mix and pride ourselves on the fact that there’s something for everyone. From girly, classic, adrogynous to quirky MC we have a huge variety that will keep all tastes satisfied.

With Nicola’s penchant for all things girly she’d love our pink headphones.

Ivana is known in the house for never being seen without her make up, so maybe one of our cute metallic make up purses would interest her?

Even critical Stephanie would be lost for words if she saw our gorgeous Gabby Harris cashmere collection.

Despite Heidi’s slobby choice of garments in the house this past week, we at Fifi Wilson know that it is possible to be comfortable and stylish! We’re all for comfort but surely there’s no need for those offensive holey, ragged pieces of cloth Heidi decided to drown her body in. Our favourites include the YMC grey, cotton, softer than soft dress, the Set bat wing oatmeal cardigan and the Disaya faux fur cardigan.

Ok, so the whole of the UK may not be watching you 24/7 but you can still take pride in looking and feeling fabulous even if you are slobbing out in front of the TV with a family sized Galaxy. Never fear, for we’ve got just the things, but you’re going to have to be speedy, they’re lusted after even more than BB’s Corned Beef sandwiches.

You Must Create!

Alexa Chung’s current favourite label YMC‘s Autumn/Winter ’09 collection is selling out at Fifi Wilson and it’s not even September! The label was founded in the mid 90′s by Fraser Moss and Jimmy Collins. YMC stands for You Must Create your own design style. This was the ethos of an American industrial design pioneer that inspired the duo to go on to create their own label.  There is a definite 1950′s utilitarian feel to their clothes, but complimenting the simplicity is lovely attention to detail. With a great functional look rather than trend led there’s a lot of room to wear the clothes with individuality. At Fifi Wilson we are great believers in wearing clothes that express and develop your own personal style rather than doing a head to toe designer look. Besides, having far more fun putting clothes together your own unique way, you may surprise and inspire.  You must create!
